I considered a deliver a success when I didn't have to spot them the 49 cents.
What does "spot" mean? |

I think "delivery" rather than "deliver" must be in the original.
To spot someone $.49 means to lend the person the money.
"Spot me a five until payday, will you? I'm broke."
