Dear all,
I think doubts about these four sentences.
For no. 1, I think (b) and (c) are both good answers. For no. 2, (a) is better than (d). For no. 3, (a) and (d) are both good. For no. 4, (a) and (c) are both good. Am I correct? Thank you in advance.

1. d is correct: Some of the fruit is on the table.
b won't work unless you say, One of the pieces of fruit is on the table.
c won't work unless you say, All of the fruits are on the table.

2. a is not better than d; d is correct: I need this book. Could you get it for me?
a would work if you said, I need a book. Could you get one for me?

3. d is correct: Mary is the tallest girl in the class.
a doesn't work because she can be the taller of the two, or the tallest of three or more, but not the tallest of the two.

4. c is right: Some of the books are new; the others aren't.
a won't work unless you say, Some books are new; others are not.
