1.The carnival begins January 28 and lasts for about 2 weeks.
or
The carnival begins*on* January 28 and lasts for about 2 weeks.

2.Hundreds of festivals in cities across America celebrate the season's cold, white beauty.
or
Hundreds of festivals in cities across America celebrate the season's cold *and *white beauty.

3.
Someone broke a leg off that beautiful sculpture.

Someone's leg is broken or the leg of the sculture?

4. She has a good taste *for* or *in* or *of* men.
Which one of the three is correct? I have seen *for* used, but others sound fine to me.

Thanks

1. Either with or without "on" is fine.

2. Usually you would use "cold, white beauty," which means that the beauty of the city is both cold and white. If you added "stark," it would be "stark, cold, white beauty."

3. "Someone broke a leg off that beautiful sculpture" is the correct way to say that the scupture's leg is broken off, and someone did it.

4. If she has good taste in men, she likes really good, desirable men only. If she has a taste for men, she likes to have men around. If she has a taste of men, she is licking or biting men, tasting them.

Note: no "a" when you say someone has good taste in something.

"Joe really has good taste." "Well, good taste in clothes, maybe, but not good taste in music."

"Gre has a taste for fast cars and expensive clothes" is fine. If you want to use "in," you can say that Gre has good or bad taste in cars and clothes.
