without a doubt to really master a language you need to have spent some timein the country--just be being around the language in itseevryday form will change gretaly enrich your vocabulary ina matter of weeks.

Let me give a warning. Going abroad to an English speaking country does not necessarily mean that you will improve your English. It is only too easy to go overseas and mix only with your own people and soeak only your own language. What is important is that when you are overseas you become totally immersed in the language, and you speak only the local language.

I have lived in China for many years, but I mix only with English speaking people, and eat only Western food. Therefore, I have not learned much Chinese.

I have met many Chinese who have had time in America but there are so many Chinese there that they did not learn much English.

I am actually a teacher and have taught in Asia (Including Korea) and in Canada. It is a shame that some of the students I have taught would not get a chance to go to Canada, or other English speaking country, because with their motivation and the right environment they could learn so much better and faster.

When teaching in Canada I have seen students progress so fast. Now I am teaching in Korea and I do see improvement, but the environment is not ideal, although we do all we can do, an English speaking country is the right answer for a more complete learning experience. There are some things you just can't learn in the classroom that are vital to learnng the language at a more complete level. Culture, way of life and thinking are among them, but there is lots more.

i'm a student from china.and right now i'm studing english in beijing because i want go to australia university to study.from my point of view,learning english in a english speaking enviroment is much better than in ur country.however,it doesn't mean only if you are in the english speking country that you can improve ur english faster than anyone in non-english speaking country,or even you can make a progress.i believe that surrounding is significant,but you have to work hard to improve your english ,in this case ,you can study english well no matter where you are!

though I think that spending some time in an English speaking country may change your life (as far as the language is concerned, al least) I would strongly recommend not to forget that studying is very important too. Too many people can manage a foreign language but not over basic level; many people are fluent in a foreign language but they also make a lot of mistakes.

I think we can learn english everywhere,including your own country. In the other hand you can learn english in other country too. you get many experiences in other country. you can improve your speaking skill in your daily-life because you have to speak english everywhere.But going abroad is not the only one way to study english.you can study english pass through internet too.
