1.Journalists have *painted the portrait* of a career FBI official who had come to believe that....

gave the description?



2.President Nixon was suggestiong tht the CIA* be* used to ward off FBI probe*s* into the source of the Watergate money.

Why not *was* for the first part and why was probes used as a plural?

3.....the *internally displace*...
temporary homeless?

4.The story is getting all thi s*play for teh most obvious of reasons.

Why not *was*? It's the subjunctive. He wants the CIA to be... He thinks the CIA should be.. He would like the CIA to be...

Why was probes used as a plural? multiple probes..multiple investigations

temporary homeless? Yes.
According to the UN's Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement, IDPs are defined as "persons or groups of persons . . . forced or obliged to flee or to leave their homes . . . In order to avoid the effects of armed conflict, situations of generalized violence, violations of human rights or natural or human-made disasters, and who have not crossed an internationally recognized state border."


4.The story is getting all thi s*play for teh most obvious of reasons.
Attention? Yes, media play.
