| Thank you for your prompt response. I have another question. If 'waiting ' in 'I kept waiting for him.' is a gerund, how about 'I kept him waiting.'? Is 'waiting' still a gerund? |

I think:
In this sentence 'I kept waiting for him,' 'kept waiting' is past progressive. That you were waiting for him.
In this sentence 'I kept him waiting,' the gerund 'waiting' modifies him. That someone was waiting for you. |
