At half-past twelve next day Lord Henry Wotton strolled from Curzon Street over to the Albany to call on his uncle, Lord Fermor, a genial if somewhat rough-mannered old bachelor, whom the outside world called selfish because it derived no particular benefit from him, but who was considered generous by Society as he fed the people who amused him.
What function does 'if' play?
What does 'if' mean in the sentence?
If it is conjunction, how come there is not a setence followed.
For example, if he goes to the concert, I will see him there. |

Yes, it's a conjunction here. It means although - or - despite the fact that he is a somewhat rough-mannered old bachelor ... _________________ I'm never going to learn if you don't correct my mistakes! |
