Dear teachers,
Is the following word order correct?
On the right-hand (side?) of the street were in a long row many plain and old-fashioned houses.

You can say it like that because English is very flexible about word order. I think it would be written usually as:
On the right-hand side of the street , in a long row, were many plain, old-fashioned houses.
OR:
On the right hand side of the street was a long row of plain, old-fashioned houses. |
