"on the road" is much more commonly said. The car broke down on the road. There is a lot of snow on the road.
"in the road" can be used as folllows. There are many holes and cracks in the road.
Some people say "in the road" when they mean "on the road". I think they should say "on the road" because what they are talking about is on the road, not in the road. |
