I met the following sentence in reading:

Think how boring the world would be if everyone were the same. That said, you should take care to consider the feelings of others.

I couldn't make out the meaning of "that said". Is it a fixed phrase or a misprint?

thanks

.
It is certainly not a misprint. That (being) said is indeed likely classified as a 'fixed expression'.

Thank you for your reply. But could you tell me the exact meaning of this phrase? If you have some examples or situation, i would appreciate it.

.
It means 'having made the previous statement'. In your example:

Think how boring the world would be if everyone were the same. Having said 'think how boring the world would be if everyone were the same', you should take care to consider the feelings of others.

The idea is that although the previous statement has been presented, there is something opposed to or in spite of it to be considered.

I don't think it's particularly helpful to place the blame on Chairman Arafat. That being said, I think that the concern that President Bush had regarding the cycle of violence is justified, and I support his objective of ending that cycle of violence.

It turns out that the law, although widely feared by Chinese defense lawyers, is rarely used. That being said, many trials in China are not public, so it is very difficult to ascertain how often certain laws are used.
