The socialite insists on dancing on nightclub *banquettes* and stages, because she has a uncontrollable fear of sweat.

Is that like bench?

How is a banquet different from a party? Why is that put together with table in the sentence?

Thanks

A banquet is a fancy meal.

A banquette is a bench, usually against a wall and often built into the wall. It is also usually upholstered. It's not a word you hear very often, but that's is how the online dictionaries describe it.
