1. Is there some milk in the fridge?

2. Is there any milk in the fridge?

3. Isn't there some milk in the fridge?

4. Isn't there any milk in the fridge?

What's the difference in meaning between the above sentences?

1 and 2 have the same meaning. 3 and 4 have the same meaning. In other words, some and any have the same meaning in these sentences

1 and 2 are simply asking if there is (some)(any) milk in the fridge.

3 and 4 are suggesting that there (is) (should be) milk in the fridge and seeks conformation or not.
3 and 4 would most likely be said in response to a suggestion or statement that there is no milk in the house.
