Is my sentence correct? Would "through" be better or should I somehow rewrite the whole sentence?
We learn to know other people by heart and by thoughts.
Thanks a lot! |

Dear Makin: In America, when we say that we 'know something by heart', we mean that have memorized it really well. Is that what you meant when you used that phrase? Probably not. So, to avoid confusion and to keep the parallel structure, you should use 'through the heart and through our thoughts'. (I also added the identifiers 'the' and 'our', which fit the situation best, I believe.)
OK? |

Dear Makin: I noticed that I forgot to put a 'we' between 'that' and 'have'. Even I make mistakes. |
