Government cracks down on *black gold politics*, will not compromise.
black gold=petroleum?

MP3 faces *damages* for copyright violations
damages done by MP3 or done to them?

British child actor *cast* as lead in Harry Potter film.
Is that a verb or a noun in that case?

My project is "underway."
What are other synonyms?

or

Are they both correct?

Damages that will be done to them (MP3) as punishment for their copyright violations legal crime. Usually that means they will have to pay some fine or be forbidden to engage in some business practice.

In this case, verb "to cast".

They are gramatically both correct, but the second one shows more effort so more sincerity.

Damages or money damages (the "s" is there in both singular and plural form) is a legal term meaning what the plaintiff is seeking or is awarded in a lawsuit against the defendant.
