What are the differences between 'Present Perfect Tense' and 'Past Perfect Tense'?
For example,
'I have typed the report'.
'I had typed the report'.
Many thanks. |

There are no differences in your two sentences beyond what you already know. Neither sentence is good because in that simple situation you only need to say 'I typed the report.'
Now consider the following two sentences.
I have typed reports for 15 years but he has typed reports for 25 years. (present perfect, present perfect)
I have typed reports for 15 years but he had already typed reports for 10 years before I started. (present perfect, past perfect)
Do you see why my first sentence is present, present and the second one is present, past? |
