Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Parents are the best teachers. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

In the context were teaching is not just academic learning but larger process of learning, I definitely agree with the given statement that parents are the best teachers.

There is a saying that learning begins at home. We learn our first step, our first word and our first scribble at home and are taught by our parents. Usually everyone learns something or the other from his or her parents. Lessons learned at home are important for every one of us not only before we go to school but throughout our entire life.

Parents are with their child under the widest variety of circumstances, even from before a child is born often twenty-four hours a day in the early age of child. And thus no one can understand children better than their parents. Parents have the most complete understanding of strengths, weaknesses and needs of children. Because of this they can help their children the best in learning not only academic courses, but also different aspects of life.

In addition to this, parents have advantage over any other person because they have more time and patience a child needs. As we can see that in six or seven hours that children spend at school, they get only few minutes of teachers undivided attention. But parents can give them extended period of undivided attention and lots of patience at their mistakes. Where a teacher might irritated if he/she have to repeat something again and again, parents can deal with the same situation more patiently and lovingly. Thus, learning from parents became much pleasant experience than learning from anybody else.

Parents are the only people who are greatly involved in every aspect of childs life and in their learning processes, whether that be academic learning or other learning activities. That is why parents have lots of influence over their children. A child will be more willing to listen to his parents than his teachers because of emotional bonding with his parents.

In the end I want to say that the importance of a teacher cannot be undermined and parents may not have all the knowledge. That is why we need other teachers too. But nevertheless, no one can compete with our parents for the title of best teacher.
