Hello, I have a friend that has a fungal nail infection,He has been to his gp, who after sending off some of his nail clippings, for lab tests found that it was indeed a fungal nail infection.
However his main fear is that the cause may be an underlining illness of some type. He discussed this fear with his gp, but he was unable to confirm or deny this. He has been given medication which needs to be taken for one week, and then repeated four weeks later.
I have suggested that he take the following natural supplements to boost his immune system.
Acidophilus Take yogurt with live cultures or acidophilus capsules.
Green tea, either tea bags, or tablets.
Garlic To boost the immune system and ward off fungal infections, take 6-8 capsules of garlic daily.
Vitamin B-complex Take tablets daily.
Vitamin C Take 500-3,000 mg of vitamin C in divided doses.
Vitamin D and E Take 400 IU each of vitamins D and E.
Zinc Take 15-50 mg of zinc. More than 15 mg of zinc should not be taken for more than a week or so without medical supervision as it may interfere with absorption of other minerals.
He has strated to take the combination of the above supplements, and his medication, so we will see if this works.
As to regard other therapies, does anyone know of what else may help?
