In the late 9th century, the Magyars, a Finno-Ugric people from the steppes of central Asia beyond the Urals, sweeping into the Carpathian Basin, had conquered all or most of what is now modern Hungary and Transylvania.
1. Did they swept into the Carpathian Basin in the late 9th century too? (From sweeping)
2. Should it be conquered, instead of had conquered?
Thanks. |

1...Yes, they did.
Say 'Did they sweep....', not swept. Use the present tense when asking a question.
2...Yes, it should be 'conquered'. |
