#1. The news made us surprised.
#2. The news surprised us.

Do these two sentences have the same meaning?

What is the difference in meaning between them if any?

Which is more frequently used in your everyday conversation?

They have the same meaning but #2 is much better because it is more efficient and it is the one used by native speakers.
