Once, in Dublin, a solicitor came up to a barrister to beg a subscription towards the funeral expenses of a brother solicitor who had died in distressed circumstances.
The barrister at once tendered a pound note.
"Oh, I only want a shilling from each contributor" said the solicitor.
"Take it, my dear fellow," replied the barrister. "And while you are at it, bury twenty of them!"

I'll give it a try, Jenny:

Once, in Dublin, a solicitor came up to a barrister to beg a subscription towards the funeral expenses of a brother solicitor who had died in distressed circumstances.

-- A solicitor is a lawyer, while a barrister is a more highly-qualified lawyer. Let's call them Jr. (junior) and Sr. (senior)... One time in Dublin, a Jr. approached a Sr. to ask for a contribution for the funeral expenses of another Jr. who had become poor before he died.

The barrister at once tendered a pound note.

--Sr. immediately gave Jr. a very generous contribution.

"Oh, I only want a shilling from each contributor" said the solicitor.

-- Oh, I need much less from each contributor.

"Take it, my dear fellow," replied the barrister. "And while you are at it, bury twenty of them!"

-- Take all that I gave you, my friend. Instead of burying only your friend, you can bury 20 Jr.'s.

Hope that helps. Do you see the joke?
