I wonder why "o"is left out in pronunciation.

I'm not sure, but the spelling mirrors the pronunciation of the word. Notice the second syllable in "pronounce" has the vowel sound in "cow" and the second syllable of "pronunciation" has the vowel sound of "cup". (At least in my American English.)

Does that mean it's easier to say pronunciation than pronounciation?
