Isn't gold the best way to keep your savings? Or should one go with diamonds or other jewels?

Hi my name is Patricia, I�m from Costa Rica. I want to answer your first question, that really has surprised to me. In our country is little possible that somebody keeps his gold wealth, despite thinking about diamonds and other jewels it�s less possible.
I consider that at the present is better to buy proprieties since now that acquire greater price, also it�s possible that saves in the banks in USD.
I want that you respond of which country you are for understanding better your exposition about keeping your gold wealth or diamonds, and tell me if the English is your native language, your age.
