Hello, teachers.
Would you help me understand the the last part of the next sentence?
==========
She went down into the black silk bag at her side which was as much a part of her attire as the false front she wore with such careless abandon, and which, brown in color and indifferently waved, was invariably parting from its mooring.
==========
I cannot understand what "invariably parting from its mooring" means. According to a dictionary "mooring" means "That which serves to confine a ship to a place, as anchors, cables, bridles, etc.", but obviously it is not the case in the above passage. I appreciate any comments from you as usual. Thank you !! |
