I personally think the traditional customs and way of thinking and values of my country, China, has been greatly influenced by the Americans. Individualism is being highlighted by esp. the younger generations, whereas their dependence on their parents reaches an unprecedented heights.
I'm trying to learn more about the traditional Chinese value and all that, to see if I can get any help from those to form my own principle-- yeah, right now it's still a mess.
