what is Helens of Troy?

Look up Helen of Troy (singular). If it isn't in the dictionary, then try the web or an encyclopedia. I know little of her story.
Your sentence is supposing that if there had been 100
Helens (plural) instead of only one...

Wangfeel,
I'm familiar with the story of Helen of Troy.It comes from The Iliad, an epic porm by Homer. Paris, a well known Trojan, kidnapped Helen who was Menelao's wife and he managed to get the help of the Greek to recover her. The Greek sent their war ships (lots of them) and the war of Troy began (all this seems to have happened around 800 B.C.).
What you quoted seems to measure the value of the cry "Gold!" because it might make fleets move in order to get it as 100 Helens could have made.
