Why not use *cries * or * a cry*?
2 when to use* persons* instead of *people* ?

Why not use *cries * or * a cry*?
--Usually you would say that someone did something that was a cry for attention. Maybe if someone did it several times we would say they were cries for attention, but most often what you hear is cry.
2 when to use* persons* instead of *people* ?
--We speak of persons of interest and people for a green planet; persons whose passports were stolen and people who like to drink in the afternoon.
