| There's an awful lot of that "Hilary '08" talk in Little Rock this week. |
In the quote, I don't think 'that' is necessary. If necessary, what does 'that' in the above mean? And also what does 'talk' in the sentence mean? And what is 'Little Rock'?
Thanks. |

Little Rock is the capital city of Arkansas. Bill Clinton was the Governor of Arkansas before he became the two-term President of the United States, beginning with the 1992 election. His wife is Hillary Clinton, who is running for President in the 2008 election. People in Little Rock very likely are talking a lot about "Hillary [in] '08" = "Hillary Clinton for President in 2008."
Probably it says "that" kind of talk because earlier in the piece it mentioned people talking about her running for President. Otherwise, the writer would have omitted the "that." _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
