I think that 'yet' could be changed into 'but' or 'and yet'. But I am not sure.

Can you tell me I'm wrong? And also please tell me the difference between 'but' and 'yet' and 'and yet'.

You can use 'but' or, 'and yet'. The meaning would be unchanged.

However, the sentence wouldn't be as nice with two "buts" in it so close together.
