Two people are standing a cage of elephants in a zoo.
One of them says: 'Gee! Elephants are really big animals.'
Could the other one reply:
a-I have seen them bigger than those.
b-I have seen them bigger than that.
instead of:
c-I have seen bigger ones than those.
Are a and b acceptable in this context? |

all of them are acceptable. here's how...
a - I have seen them (elephants) bigger than those (elephants).
b - I have seen them (elephants) bigger than that (size).
c - I have seen bigger ones (elephants) than those (are big).
these examples are the reason that English is so hard! there are many, many ways to say the same thing. hope it helps, iitimone7 |
