Hello,
When would you say something like 'to show an interest in...'? Does it mean the same as 'to have an interest in...' and 'to be interested in...' e.g.
'He seemed to show an interest in learning English.'
'He seemed to have an interest in learning English.'
'He seemed to be interested in learning English.'
Do the three sentences mean the same?
Many thanks. |

Hello,
Thank you Lorikeet for replying.
I have more examples as follows:
"I am interested in learning English."
Could I use the sentence like "I show an interest in learning English." instead here?
Many thanks. |

The grammar is correct, but it sounds very strange to use it with "I". Someone else can say "He shows an interest in learning English." but I never heard anyone say that about him/herself. |

Hello Lorikeet,
What is difference between:
"He shows an interest in learning English."
And
"He showed an interest in learning English."
Thank you very much for your reply |

In the first one the tense is present, and it would seem his interest is still being shown. The second is past, so I am just referring to an interest that was shown at a past point in time. |
