Why did you put "Dear Maria" on there? is that something your teacher told you to put at the beginning of letters? If so, then you should only put "Dear, ______" and put the name of the person you are sending the letter to on the line. Since this is a general public forum posts whould usually start with "Hello/Hallo everyone."(Hallo is UK-style English, Hello is American-style).
