Dear teachers

What is the meaning of "k+" after "$20" ?
I found it in the sentence below:
"The cost is $20k+ ".

Sincerely,
Iwana

k+" means thousand + dollars. "$20K+" means more than $20,000.00".

The k or K stands for kilo, from the Greek for thousand. In Latin, mille means 1,000, and M was used in Roman numerals for 1,000. This year is 2007, or MMVII.

It wasn't that long ago that $20M would mean $20,000.00, but nowadays you can't tell if $20M means $20,000,000.00, because the mass media have started to use the M or m to mean million. So more and more, people are using K.

But not me! I'll never give up on M.

By the way, to multiply M by 1,000 and therefore signify 1,000,000, the Romans would just put a horizontal bar over the M.

I know it's too much information, but I'm drinking coffee right now.
