Hi, there.
Look at the following sentences.
#1. The hotel is by the station.
#2. The hotel is near the station.
What is the difference between these two?
If the hotel is across the street from the station,
which of the two is more frequently used?
I'm waiting for your answers.

"By" sort of makes me think "next to."
I think "near" or "across from" is the best choice. _________________ wintersweet
