Dear Luna Cat, The second one is better. But it has two mistakes: It should be "I didn't have a (or any) need for your help." So, you need a limiting adjective before "need"; and "for" instead of "to", as the preposition. Ok? The same two changes can be made to the first sentence, and it would be OK to use.

Or you could say, "I didn't need your help." if you wanted to use "need" as a verb instead of a noun.

Lorikeet, You are so right in giving LunaCat's sentences a real makeover. Simpler, more direct is better. Cool
