Dear All:

Today when I was in a bookstore, I heard a clerk said to a customer who was going to pay the toys and books....
the clerk said " 500 minus 50! "

I knew the clerk just tried to say " for buying $500, you only have to pay $450

What is the right expression in English for this case ?

Thanks for helping me .... Hana

First, why did the customer get $50 off their bill? Was it a coupon? A sale discount? Question

Dear Bob.s :

Yes, you're right! The $50 off is a sale discount.....

I guess the sale discount is $500*90%=$450

please help me to express it

thank you so much Hana

I would say, "$500 minus your 10% discount equals $450."
