What does "guarding" here mean??
Hiding or something like that??

...."Yes, there are only two things he could be doing," I replied. "He is looking for your Mark to kill him, or he's guarding Colin somewhere," Frances said....

Thanks.

Guarding means protecting - keeping something safe from harm, or preventing someone from going in or out of a place. A security officer might guard a door, only letting certain people in or out, and a boxer guards his body with his gloves to stop his opponent from hitting him.

So in your text 'he' is either trying to kill Mark, or he's protecting Colin.

Or he could be standing guard over Colin, making sure Colin doesn't escape, much as a prison guard would guard the prisoners.
