Hi,
My name is David, 34. I'm an Asian born Chinese who studies Mandarin. I live in Portland, Oregon. I would like to get to know someone from Taipei, China (Guan Zhou), and would like to meet one of these days when I travel there next year.
When I do visit there, I would love to converse with you in English and Mandarin.
My interests are movies, studying, basketball, weight lifting, dining out, trying new things.

Nice to meet you Dave. I'm 18, and I don't live in Portand, but I'm very close. I live about one hour south, in a small town called Monitor. I'm very interested in Taiwan....I met my girlfriend over there last year, and I hope to visit again this summer. It sounds like we have a lot in common....I'm admitted to PSU, and I hope to take Chinese there this next fall. Where are you taking your classes at? _________________ Is life so dear or peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery? Forbid it almighty God. Well Hey,
Yeah. I'm taking my course in Chinese literature right now at PSU. I actually started long time ago, but taking one class at a time to finish my degree. I have a conversation partner now..we trade 1 hour English for 1 hour of Chinese.
You'll like the teachers at PSU. At least I did.

I love Taiwan. Like I said, I can't wait to go back again this summer.
I stayed with some friends there...they live right in the middle of Taipei....Tungfeng St, to be exact. We have known them for about ten years. They visit the US regularly in the hopes of immersing their kids in English. It's worked pretty well. Now the kids just stay with us for summer and winter vacation, and the parents stay home...they're pretty much non-related family
That "one class at a time" thing is looming in the distance for me too....unless I get a grant, I wont be able to go to school fulltime, at least for a while. I was going to try to enter the Chinese program this spring, but apparently the first class starts in the fall and is not offered during any other terms.
