Need information about music file shaiing, is it safe for my students, peers? Need feedback asap.

No, no internet activity is "safe" you can get viruses. There may be more in p2p programs. U could minimise the risk with spybot. Oh and downloading except with permission or payment is ilegal for most stuff under 70 years old after that you're OK.

You can't get a virus from downloading data, like in a music file.

However, if this is P2P you are talking about, downloading most of the files is illegal. Set a good example and buy the CD. Also, you are likely to pick up some trojans while using p2p (or they come with the p2p software). Clean up your computer afterwards.

I would generally have to say installing p2p at an educational institution is not a good idea.

Sharing legal files by e-mail or direct download from a server is fine.
