The 'Who would you have on your Island' Game

Post by clareh » Mon Jan 24, 2005 2:32 pm

I remeber playing this game in teacher training, but have forgotten the details of it. It basically goes like this. You are starting your own civilisation on an island. You can take a certain number of people with you. Then the students are given some choices of people- e.g a judge, a warrior, a mother etc and have to work in groups to discuss who they would take. Does anyone know the characters or the details of this game?
thanks
Clare

Ok here's the situation. There has been Nuclear warfare throughout the entire world, and there are 15 people in your safe shelter, and you have to believe that you are the only survivors . You only have enough food and supplies for 8 of the 15 people, and must have 7 people walk out of the shelter. You are also unsure of the amount of time you will need to spend in the shelter, so it is imperative that only 8 people remain in the shelter.

You have to take several factors into consideration when debating the survival of each person-
IQ
Health
Age
Sex
Occupation
Any other details provided

You have to remember that these 8 people might be forced to repopulate the world, and could be stuck in the shelter for a long period of time. Have fun with this, and put up a respectable argument. Do not simply list the names of the people you believe should survive, but you should try to supply reasons behind your choices. Have fun.
