It is wonderful to see that a new teacher is trying out so many ideas. I think that is also a plus of being "untrained" because you are not bound by what some college or university has taught you to think is the "right" answer. I am always so pleased to find natural teachers when I come across them in my travels but I also find that they are the ones that are the searchers too. I am not saying, of course, that you wouldn't benefit by having more training and certainly you have the benefit of experience from various teachers in this forum. I agree that getting to know your students in the "way in" and makes such a difference no matter what your age. I will be interested to hear how the groups work. I think you could read more about this by looking for things that Pradhu wrote.
