Funny English

Post by samp » Fri Jul 22, 2005 1:46 am

Hi, I have taught ESL and love it. I also like to collect all of the funny things my ESL students say, like the student who told me she pressed the wrong bottom, when she meant to say she pressed the wrong button. I'm writing a book about funny things that non-native speakers of English say. If you've ever come across anything funny or cute that an English learner has said, please send it to me. My email is [email protected].

My students loved this game: an object is placed on the floor in the middle of the room. Boys are put on one side of the room, and girls are put on the other. Each person in each group is given a number. When I call out a number, the 2 people on either side of the room who have that number have to race to the object in the middle of the room. Points are given each time someone grabs the object, and at the end of the game the team with the most points wins.

There is a book like that about things kids say and it is hilarious! I will make a list.

Do you mean you'll make a list of funny English mistakes you've seen or heard yourself? I'd really appreciate that. Can you send it to my email instead of posting it here? I don't want to spoil it for anyone before the book is printed.
