Do natives ever use the verb use with shoes?
These special boots are used in places where you can hurt your feet badly.
One student of mine concoted this, I'd really appreciate your acount on this.

Seems fine to me. I believe high-class natives use verbs and shoes, though where I come from they use clogs

I can't speak for the other natives but whenever I go out in the snow I use my shoes to keep my feet warm and dry
