The Influence of Television and Movies
As our modern culture progresses rapidly, all kinds of medias such as TV and movies became more important in people’s life. As a matter of fact, most of the people behave under the influence the TV and movies, whether consciously or subconsciously. Also, while some of the influences are positive, some are negative.
First of all, and perhaps the original purpose of TV and movies, is to convey knowledge both visually and verbally. The movies and TV still influence people in this way today. People get knowledge from them. Beside the pure educational programs, one can learn everything like, current news, recipes, entertaining.
Second, most of the TV and movie audience tend to act and speak according to certain media characters. The main reason is because they think the characters are cool and worth to copy. Usually people copy the stars subconsciously; however, there are some crazy starwar fans, unaware of how dangerous it may be, swing a fake light saber in public.
Finally, TV and movies often change people’s attitudes toward different issues. The directors and producers always justify some inhuman deeds by glorify the outcomes. The movie THE GLADIATOR, without seeing how cruel and bloody the events are, gives the audience the idea of killing is success; on the other hand, the movie THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW warns people about the disaster that could be created by climate change.
Therefore, through many ways, movies and television influence our lives and behaviors more and more.
