Feeling discouraged

Post by sarasason » Fri Dec 01, 2006 5:29 pm

It's my first semester teaching at a county college and I got evaluations from my students that my school made them fill out. However, the evaluations did not have open-ended questions. I only have 7 students, but 5 were only present to fill out the evaluation. I think I'm a bit discouraged because a question was: [If you] Would like this teacher of another course, two said no and another question was overall the teacher is: below average (one student rated me that).

I think I am being oversensitive, but it's hard not too since I know the students quite well. What do you think about this?

If you want to know how they really feel, make your own evaluation forms that ask the things you want to know. No one says you have to only use they school's form.

Don't feel bad! If you're doing your best, then you're ahead of the game already. Keep up the good work.
