Halpern is a tiresome idiot; I wouldn't even wish reading all his articles on metal56.

Different languages can make different distinctions more economically. There is certainly an element of need in grammaticalization.

As I pointed out before however, the examples in the twee smoky mountains post (Whorf meets Walden), do not provide any evidence for the assertion.

If metal56 wishes us to discuss the assertion independent of the source, then don't link to the source. If he wishes us to discuss the source then don't post the assertion and ask us to discuss that.
