The list contains topic areas that some posters here have tried to prevent being discussed. IMO, there has been a narrowing of topics.

Exactly, Lori. The way metal writes, it's as though all I (or anybody else who dares to disagrees with him) have ever done is pop up and shout 'Die you m*ther!', without ever making an effort to at least discuss things whilst trying to make a relevant point or two (but boy is that hard, given metal's usual tactics in his "replies").

So, the person who has been most inimical to discussion is, IMHO, actually metal himself. He is quite the hypocrite. Don't believe me? Then take a look at this, which is where things really began to turn sour:

How many of those do you discuss, metal?* All you seem to have been banging on about since Lord Lovrmoted's evil spell lifted is the unfairness of ignoring marginal native data one day, then marginal non-native data the next, all the while abhoring it seems the notion of arriving at a standard, as if having one established (in the teacher's own mind at least) wouldn't help inform their teaching (and they can and indeed sometimes then do diverge from that standard when necessary, you know).

Are we to assume then that you abstain from yourself teaching anything at all in your classes? Must be nice to be able to just toss students a newspaper with the grunt 'Read this!', but then, they were all going on advanced before they came to you, weren't they.

I think you are thinking about your own posts and idea of teaching there, Fluff. You are the one who endlessly mocks others with your snide tone when they suggest certain approaches that you have either never considered (which is mostly the case) or cannot bring yourself to consider even for one second. You, Fluff are the narrowminded teacher, not me.
You base everything on your personal context, but I cite my own and other teachers contexts. You try to fix the image of what a language student is, but it is only based on your students and the limited context you work in. When I mention the wide variety of students I've worked with over 25 years, when I talk about a multitude of tastes, and needs, you mock. That's it. No more to be said.

Yes, your selective memory is a shame, because it means that you can carry on being obnoxious to people for as long as you like (or until they themselves finally grow weary of you).
