village theater performance

'village theater performance'
I wonder if this is a common English phrase.
It's Inaka Shibai in Japanese. It means something like
'amateurish theatrical performance performed in
theaters in small towns'.
Are there any common English terms for this?

Thank you.

Yes a village theatre would be exactly what you said and they are fairly common in the UK. Often performed by an Amateur drama group.
