event hall

Post by Itasan » Tue Jan 29, 2008 7:18 am

The event hall is suitable for various types of events such as trade fairs, industrial exhibitions, festivals and concerts. (http://www.oki-conven.jp/english/event.html)
I wonder if the term 'event hall' commonly used in English for
such a thing as above.
If not, is there any other term for it?

Thank you.

Yep. Very common. Usually distinguished from a theater by it's purpose (generally not plays or performances, but lectures, presentations and demonstrations). Event halls are very large rooms. The layout has flat, rather than tiered, seating arrangements.
