I am currently taking "Concepts of Second Language Acquisition" and I have been asked to interview an ESL teacher. I am hoping someone on here will be willing to answer a few questions! Any help is greatly appreciated!
1. What are the circumstances under which second language acquisition leads to the loss of the primary language?
2. How real and widespread is the phenomenon of L1 loss?
3. What are the consequences of such a loss?
4. How would you advise parents and teachers who are worried about a primary language loss?
5. What circumstances would lead to bilingualism rather than monolingualism as children acquire English?
Thank you!
