Quick Spelling Test

I'm ashamed to say that I only got 17/20, but then, I did rush through it a bit too fast. (Can't remember exactly which ones I got wrong, but if anyone really really wants to know, I can retake it!).

Me too, 17. Even though it's always the same old suspects.....
Which is why Chinese is such a horrible thing to learn to write. Every single word is a less than obvious "Hmmm, is it written that way?" experience.
(And thus I'm afraid my performance in my recent HSK cloze test section was also less than wonderful...........)

A few Chinese links (then) for you, Woody!
http://www.kanjiclinic.com/twostrokegame.htm (I thought of 19 of the 28 answers listed, but that was in only about 20 minutes, might've thought of a few more if I'd given myself a bit longer, and I'm sure that there are more than 28 possible Chinese hanzi-answers, as opposed to Japanese kanji ones perhaps - I mean, I had a few beyond my 19 tallying that weren't in the kanjiclinic list, but which certainly appear in Chinese dictionaries at least).

What's interesting is the mistakes they expect you to make: either unstressed vowels where you can't hear the vowel 'properly' or double consonants where again you can't hear the spelling. I did worse than everybody here so far.
Now, how many of you have developed solid strategies for preventing your students from knowing that you can't spell your way out of a paper bag?

As expected, and perhaps because I don't expect to do well, I got 11. I really thought I had it nailed. Guess I haven't overcome my learning disabilities at 67.
When I made a mistake that my students caught, I just said that I was testing them.
What would I do without spell check? Even then, I have to change words when spell check can't find them.

Misdirection...
Ouch, only 15.
Sad thing is, I'm still sure I spell (probably) all of them correctly when I use them without thinking too much... but as soon as I see all those distractors, I suddenly get confused.
:p
